A note from Pastor Don…
TRYING TO BELIEVE…
In considering reasons to believe, everyone is unique, and the choice we make to embrace faith in God, or go it alone, is inherently personal. For some, the capacity to believe in a Creator they have never seen comes from deep within…a compelling sense that there must be something more. Others come to embrace faith later in their life, perhaps following a defining moment of some kind when they feel as though God has been revealed in some way to them.
The remarkable thing about the God of the Bible is that He is the One who initiates all of this. Whether in the beauty and complexity of our world and the intricacies of created design in all that is around us, or the stunning balance and order science is finding in the cosmos, God certainly makes no effort to hide the fact that Someone must be behind it all. Add to this the dramatic manner in which we see so many Old Testament prophecies fulfilled with incredible detail, as well as the world changing impact of the One Solitary Life named Jesus Christ, and you see repeated evidence of the unseen God making Himself known.
In spite of this, faith is a great challenge. It is not always easy to believe. We have so many questions, and we face pain and great difficulty in our lives. God appears to reveal Himself enough that those who are inclined to believe can do so, yet He remains hidden enough that those who doubt His existence have reason to do that, too.
Hence, our current teaching series at SW is entitled “TRYING TO BELIEVE”. If you wish, join us in the journey as we face our doubts and questions together. We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we are real people with real struggles who don’t want to turn away from either our honest questions or the God who is there. We’re just…”TRYING TO BELIEVE”.
